A CORNERSTONE of PHILATELY........

Due to an increased interest and volunteer resources, Study Groups have once again taken a foothold in the annual program.  Several years ago,  the concept that became United States Study Group, expanded in 2010 to introduce a Great Britain Study Group and a Topical-Thematic Study Group.

Attention has been provided to include opportunity for these groups to meet following the regular weekly meetings of the society, and each group currently meets once a month.  While the topics are highly varied, each group has elected/appointed a chairperson and each operate to meet the needs of their respective study group members.  A typical gathering lasts 30-45 minutes and most often consists of a short show-and-tell, question-and-answer, and general discussion on a topic presented by one of its members or guest.

This online format, will hopefully, provide these study groups with a more permanent home for the products of their work and also become a means by which their discussions can extend beyond the formal meeting.  Each study group, regardless of size, will be provided with equal resources here.  Each will have a unique page and invited to post their program, upcoming events and an open invitation to visit the study grouop meetings.  Each group will also be provided a "Study Group Archive" on which they can post their 'educational materials" which will be accompanied by images, useful links, discussion, blogs, etc.  It will be understood that such materials, may at any time also be posted in other parts of the webiste and/or links provided to guide viewers directly to the information they have posted.  Finally, each study group will be allowed a password protected area, available to recognized members of that group, in which they can acces planning sessions, reserved documents, etc.  None of these elements, other than a general overview will be required by the study groups, but all very strongly encouraged.

Other study groups, even single individual groups, will be allowed access to this process.  No technical know-how will be required, but e-mail access will be essential from at least one member.  With the concept of a more regional or international usage of this site, small study groups may soon find that they have a broad-based following and more universal participation online.

An image link has provided to redirect viewers to each of the homepages of the current study groups.
